Finding time to read The Quran (2)

Now that you renewed your intentions toward The Quran and that you  bought two copies of It, here is what you can do next to help you finding time to read the Quran..

  1. Download audios of the Quran that you need for you memorization or that you just want to listen to on your mobile phone or mp3. You can even do the same for any device your using. You can do so in this website for example.

  2. Now the last but not the least of the tips : Use every free time you have during the course of day to read, memorize, study and listen to The Book of Allah –عَزَّ وَجَلَّ- . Among those moments, the following ones :

    After salah Al Fajr, when children are still asleep and the day has not yet begun ;

    After every salah by trying to add at least a few minutes, (imagine if you were to read only 5 minutes after each one of them, you would have read 25 minutes everyday with ease) ;

    in the public transport (bus, subway, …), those rides take sometimes 2 hours per day for many of us ;

    At work, in front of your computer if your work permits it, you can listen to the Quran by using a headphone ;

    – during any work break you get, instead of going to the café why note using those minutes to read a quarter of Hizb ? (see our article about how the Quran is organized) ;

    in the car during the rides to the children’s school, to work or to shopping, make the most of this time by listening to the verses that you’re memorizing at that time or that you’re about to memorize ;

    – For housewives (the most difficult and rewarding job in the world!) and husbands who help with housework, opportunities are many :

    while vacuuming up, or moping the floor ;

    while cleaning dishes ;

    while breastfeeding (your baby will also benefit from your recitation) ;

    while cooking ;

    while children are taking a nap;

    at night, when children are finally asleep

    juste before sleeping in your warm bed

    and among the best time, a few minutes before salah Al Fajr, in the last third of the night, when the angels are witnessing those who wake up to remember their Lord, Allah The all Mighty!

Now it’s your call, you’re free to find many others free time you might have.  The one above were given as examples since our daily routines are not necessary the same. Why not even make a detailed list of them to help you finding time to read The Quran ? We just need to remind ourselves again and again that the Quran is easy to reach, It doesn’t need a specific ritual, nor a specific time of place (except for the toilets of course!). You will see that very soon, those minutes will form hours. And Allah will reward you with Barakah in your days, health and time. So let’s stop wasting the little time we have in trivialities of this world and you will see that finding time to read the Quran is not that difficult.

Ibn Mas’ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah () said, « Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter. »

[At- Tirmidhi].

May Allah grants us to know the sweetness of the Quran –حلوات القرءان -et may He – The most Hight – makes His words in our mouth and hearths at any circumstances.
